If the mess floats, make surface cleaning a requirement.
A robot that brilliantly cleans the floor can still be the wrong answer when your daily frustration is leaves, pollen or debris floating on top.
Surface coverage is a hard filter in OWR.
If you tell the Finder that surface cleaning is required, submerged-only products are ruled out rather than rescued by a high overall score. That prevents a common shopping mistake: buying an impressive robot that solves the wrong layer of the pool.
Current full-coverage candidates: Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max, Beatbot AquaSense 2 Pro and Beatbot Sora 70 all publish surface cleaning in addition to submerged zones. Compare the rest of the specification before choosing among them.
When two machines can still be rational
A dedicated surface skimmer plus a strong submerged cleaner can be sensible for extremely tree-heavy pools. we treat that as a system decision, not automatically as a failure of one-box convenience.
